Road Trip to the Hot Springs Association Connection Conference

We took the stage to share on the film + the Art of Storytelling

We drove 20 hours from Northern New Mexico straight to Calistoga, California… through the winding mountains, into the high desert technicolored spires in Utah, and through the misty expanse of Nevada. Like all good road trips, we hit a few hiccups with car electrical trouble along the way and even considered leaving the van in Durango, CO to fly. But alas, Michael’s tech savvy skills got us back on the road with some mccgyver-ing and YouTube education.

We rolled into Calistoga around 8pm, and from the around the corner we could hear no other voice than Chris Devlin! (the man who graced the start of it all… and our first long interview from T or C). Immediately we were greeted with bubbling enthusiasm as Chris remarked “I wad JUST speaking about you two.” It’s how the Universe works… especially when the water is guiding the project.

Hyped on a long drive and adrenaline, we gave a 30 minute presentation introducing the theme in relation to the art of storytelling at the Annual Hot Springs Association Connection Conference. This gathering calls hot springs owners and industry folks from all corners to connect, offer resources, and share how each steward the water of their lands. Despite the nerves, our talk was met with much enthusiasm and support.

The water has a way of facilitating connection

During our time here we met some of the most open-hearted and inspired humans - people creating ecosystems that expand past their business or property to be in symbiosis with their communities and nature. We met folks who have dedicated their life’s work to healing through water, sound, resonance and vibration. The conversations unfolded… yet again in ways unexpected and beautiful.

Highlighted interviews include:

Jonathan Bellingham. On our last morning, a long awaited interview ensued with 3rd generation mineral springs resort co-owner of Capon Springs. Jonathan brought so much thought, intention and care into his reflections. He truly has been a steward of water in the unfolding of this film, connecting us the way water does with more voices to bring into the fold.

Kathleen Haden and John Anthony. They offered free Aqua Movement Sessions on the first evening. Quite remarkable, they infuse the mineral spring water with music composed with healing frequencies while you float in weightless meditation. After the session, it became clear we needed to speak to these two. The next day we interviewed them and heard stories of love, miracles, the medicine of sound vibration and water.
